Vanessa reached out to us and asked if we could help round out her exploration and overlanding Jeep build.  She had recently purchased a 2024 Wrangler Rubicon Xtreme package, for the purpose of exploring the Colorado Rockies with her family.  Some of her upgrades through Bullhide 4×4 included the following:

  • Clayton Offroad 2.5 “Overland” lift
  • Falcon SP2 piggyback shocks
  • Genesis Dual Battery System
  • ARB Twin Air Compressor
  • Warn 10S winch
  • Artec Industries Body Armor
  • Rock Hard Sliders
  • Rhino Pioneer Rack

However, she was looking at adding some “quality-of-life” electrical accessories that included a fridge, ham radio, area lights, fog lights, Starlink, etc., and wanted to use a SwitchPros Switch to connect everything.  Unlike previous builds (where the SwitchPros was under her hood with a mess of wires running all over her vehicle), she wanted a cleaner solution, where it would be easier for her to upgrade electronics (add and remove accessories) without having to constantly go back and forth to an upfitter.  Enter the Kraken Electrical Systems solution.

Step 1: Prepped the Rig

1. Removed roll cage middle-cover on driver side.

2. Made sure there were no obstructions for under hood bracket.

3. Installed through roof wire gland (for Starlink and area light cables).

Step 2: Installed the Core

1. Dropped the SwitchPros into the Kraken “Core” and plug in.

2. Attached the Core-Mount to Jeep driver side roll cage.

3. Attached the Core to the Core-Mount.

4. Attached the Positive & Negative cables.

5. Attached the SwitchPros splitter cable to use 2x controllers (front & rear).

6. Core lid on, and started routing cables to under hood bracket (zones 1-4).

7. Plugged the Positive & Negative to fuse blocks.

8. Powered up and tested SwitchPros, connected to Bluetooth, etc.

Step 3: Installed the SwitchPros Remote

1. Connected SwitchPros remote to the SwitchPros Remote cable (20 feet long).

2. Ran cable under carpet, up dash to desired mounting location.

Step 4: Installed the Remote Tether (zone 1-4 cables from Core to under hood)

1. Installed the Tether Bracket under the hood above steering column.

2. Plugged in “duplex zone cable” (plug for zone 1&2 to support two functions) and then plugged in Baja Lights LP6 vendor cable.

3. Plugged in “Y-splitter zone cable” (to break up zones 3&4) and then plugged ARB twin air compressor cable into zone 3 and Ham radio vendor cable into zone 4.

Step 5: Installed and Routed Zone Cables from Core

1. Routed two zone cables through roof gland (for switches 6 & 7).

2. Routed Baja Lights “vendor accessory cable” to switch 6 zone cable.

3. Routed Starlink “vendor accessory cable” to switch 7 zone cable.

Step 6: Connected all of THE accessories and tested!

1. Switch 1 = LP6 Halo

2. Switch 2 = LP6 Fog (high).

3. Switch 3 = ARB Twin Air Compressor.

4. Switch 4 = HAM Radio.

5. Switch 5 = ARB Fridge.

6. Switch 6 = Baja Lights S2.

7. Switch 7 = Starlink Mini.

8. Switch 8 = Kraken Power Port.
